Has God’s word ever been a comfort for you in times of affliction?

Lord, “If Your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction.” The prayers in my book, “Prayers for Everyday Living”  were written because of one situation or another that I have been through, and each time, I came through because God’s Word, His law, was my delight. No matter what I was going through, when I opened my Bible, there was a verse or scripture that gave me comfort and encouragement. My brothers and sisters in Christ, God’s Word offers comfort in affliction. So, whatever you are going through this morning, let the Word of God talk you through it.

Is God’s word like a lamp shining in a dark place in your life?

My brothers and sisters in Christ, let God’s word be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path, let it be like a lamp shining in a dark place, until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning star shines in your heart and mine. Let us seek to understand the meaning of the word of God, and taste and feel its power.

Are you allowing sin to control your body?

My brothers and sisters in Christ, if we allow sin to control our mortal body, we will obey its desires. Help us Lord, to be dead to sin and alive to you. Help us not to present the parts of our body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present ourselves to you, as those who have been brought from death to life; so that we will be dead to sin and alive to You always. Amen!

Is anyone around you killing your joyful spirit?

We have many friends, acquaintances, family members, co-workers, who kill the spirit all the day long. My brothers and sisters in Christ, I don’t know about you, but, Scripture says, “Come out from among them!” When you know the joyful sound and are walking in the light of God’s countenance, you want to be rejoicing all the day long, celebrating God’s righteousness. Praise the Lord!

Do you have a friend who genuinely loves you at all times?

Such friends are hard to find and are few and far between. I am blessed with one of those friends; an 80 year old, who never forgets to pray for me and to check on me, and that means the world to me. I did not speak to her for about a week and she did call me, but I was travelling and I did not call her back; and I was at home late last night and the phone rang and it was my good friend Miss Doris, and she said, “I know it’s late, but I was not going to sleep until I know that you are ok and to tell you that I love you.” That meant the world to me and I said to her, “I thank God for people like you in my life and I love you.” We must cherish the ones we love and who loves us.

How much do you trust Jesus?

When we learn to trust Jesus we become more dependent on Him. We look to him for guidance, we trust Him with our everyday decisions, we are confident in His abilities, and He becomes our best friend, who will be with us to the end. Thank you, Lord!

Have you lost some of your family and friends because God saved you?

You are not alone. Many of our friends and family members are still unbelievers and they are always the least supportive of our decision to follow Christ. But, should we allow them to discourage us? Absolutely not! I don’t know about you, but God did not save me so that I could gain friends. He saved me from my unsaved friends so that I could gain His friendship. And thanks be to God, I am enjoying an intimate relationship with Him and I could sing all the day long, “What a friend I have in Jesus”. He is always worthy of that dear name He bears. He’s the friend who never change with the changing years. He is ever living and ever faithful. Glory to His name!

Do you pray for your friends or members of your household to be saved?

Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the all of you to be saved. None of you who come to believe in Him will ever be put to shame. Therefore, come to Jesus, who offers free salvation by faith! Leave all the world and its sinful desires and hold on to God, the Savior of the world.

Are you building on the foundation of Jesus Christ?

Scripture reminds us, to be careful in our choice of building materials, because unless we build on the solid Rock of Christ, it will not stand the test and we will not be rewarded. I have chosen to build on the solid Rock of Christ because all other ground is sinking sand.

If God who knew you before you were born and set you apart for His purpose, why do you allow others to make you doubt Him?

My brothers and sisters in Christ, be confident in this, that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. God will bring you into His own in the fullness of time. Trust in the Lord and depend on His faithfulness.
