I heard this song yesterday for the first time in a long time, and it certainly created my theme as we go into the Lenten season. “I shall know Him, I shall know Him, I shall know Him by the nail prints in His hands.”

“When my life work is ended, and I cross the swelling tide when the bright and glorious morning I shall see, I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side, and His smile will be the first to welcome me. I shall know Him, I shall know Him, and redeemed by His side, I shall stand. I shall know Him, I shall know Him, by the nail prints in His hands.”

“Blessed assurance Jesus is mine, O what a foretaste of glory divine, heir of salvation purchased of God, born of His Spirit washed in His blood.”

My brothers and sisters in Christ, the blessings we receive from God cannot be numbered, we cannot count them, and this is just a foretaste of glory divine. So let us continue on, watching and waiting and looking above, filled with God’s goodness and lost in His love.

What does it profit my brethren, if some have faith, but do not have works? Can faith save him? James 2:14

“If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you say, depart and be warm and filled, but do not give them the things they need for the body, what does it profit? Thus also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, you have faith and I have works. Show me your works, and I will show you, my faith.” My brothers and sisters in Christ, faith, and works go together, and by works, faith is made perfect. Faith without works is dead!

Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer nor his mercy from me! Psalm 66:20

“Come and hear, all you who fear God and I will declare what He has done for my souls. I cried out to Him with my mouth and He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear, but certainly, God has heard me, He has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Thank You, Lord!

“To obey is better than sacrifice.” Have you ever received a direction from God that you chose not to obey because of fear? You are not alone!

When the Lord gave Jeremiah the direction to go to Tophet and prophesy to the people, he was afraid, and he said that he would not make mention of the Lord, or anymore speak his name. But he was tormented, and he confessed, that God’s word was in my heart like a burning fire, shut up in my bones. I was weary of holding it back, and I could not. My brothers and sisters in Christ, when God gives us a word we must speak the word without fear or shame. We must say like Jeremiah, “The Lord is with me as a mighty and awesome One.” Jeremiah 21

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

“Commit your way to the Lord and put your trust in him, and he will bring it to pass. He will make your righteousness as clear as the light, and your just dealing as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently on him. Refrain from anger and leave rage alone, do not fret yourself it only leads to evil, but delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Jesus said, “I say to you that listen, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” Luke 6:27

“If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you, and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord. Jeremiah 16:21

My brothers and sisters in Christ, it is no secret what God can do. Trust him, he is able. Whatever he is about to do in your life or mine, he says he will only do it once, to make us know his power and his might and that his name is the Lord. I will not doubt you, O Lord, but wait patiently on you.

I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope. The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Lamentations 3:21,22

“O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is loving devotion, and with Him is redemption in abundance. Let us, therefore, hold resolutely, to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each and every morning.” And we are thankful!

For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread to the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 4:15

“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing; yet, the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
