Are you able to give thanks to God no matter what the situation?

This should be easy for us, because God always knows best. The situations that we go through are not meant to hurt us, no matter how difficult they may be. We just need to trust in God and in his great mercy, and know that he already has a plan and a purpose for our lives, but we have to walk in that purpose. So no matter what the situation may be, let us give God thanks.

How do you know that you have been changed?

When God creates a change in you, the things you used to do, you don’t desire to do anymore, the places you used to go, holds no appeal for you anymore, the anger, the jealousy, the course jesting and idle babble, the covetous and contentious dealings don’t entice you anymore. In time, all will see that you have been changed, many will challenge the way you’ve been changed, but tell them that you’ve been changed in the presence of the Lord, that you are not where you used to be, but thankful for where God is leading you. Praise the Lord!

Are you disconsolate, are you desolate this morning?

“Come, ye disconsolate, where’er ye languish, come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel, here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”

Are you weeping, are you going through trials and tribulations?

Know that all of this did not come to stay, it came to pass. All that you are going through is but for a moment and it will pass. All of your trials and tribulations were meant to strengthen you, not hurt you, but you must endure, you must persevere, for what you are going through is not uncommon to man, and those who sow in tears will reap in joy, if they do not lose heart. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and believe that he will see you through. Praise the Lord!

Are you able to declare all that the Lord has done for you?

The Lord, does so many wonderful things for us, it would be impossible for us to count them. Therefore, let us exalt his name, and praise Him for all that he has done and continue to do for us, even though we are so undeserving. Thank you, Lord!

Is your mind set on what the Spirit desires or your earthly desires?

The mind is willing, but the flesh I weak, let us therefore pray to God to strengthen the weak areas in our lives, to refocus our minds on what the Spirit desires, and not our earthly desires, for if our spirits are not controlled by God we cannot please him. It will be better for us, if we lose the whole world and do the right thing – please God, than to do what is wrong and lose our salvation. Praise the Lord!

Are you waiting patiently on the Lord? Will you trust in his saving power?

Know that the Lord is all powerful, there is nothing that he cannot do. There is no need that he cannot supply, there is no sickness that he cannot heal, there is no burden too heavy for him to carry and there is no sorrow that he cannot comfort. Trust in the Lord, with all your heart, call on him and patiently wait, believe in his saving power, and he will lead you and guide you in the way that you should go. The Lord is our Rock and our Redeemer. Praise the Lord!

Do you enjoy the company of revelers, or make merry with them?

Do not envy the wicked nor desire their company?  Do not be enticed by them. For they are like chaff before the wind, they do not meditate on God’s words, they speak lies, and their hearts devise wicked schemes, for there is no fear of God before their eyes. Oh, the joys of those who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but delights in the law of the Lord, and meditates on it day and night. Praise the Lord!

Have you been washed, sanctified, and justified by the Spirit of God?

If then you were washed, sanctified and justified by faith, why do you allow yourselves to be ensnared by the evil powers that surround you? Come out from among them, have no part with them, for you were bought at a price, do not become slaves of men, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.

Will you trust God who showers you daily with loving kindness?

Lord, we will trust you with our whole heart, we will fear your name O Lord, so that we will be abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house and drink from the river of Your pleasures. Oh, Lord, continue Your loving-kindness to those who know you, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart. Amen!
