We must aspire to please God, whether we are here in this body or away from it, therefore, let us test and prove what pleases the Lord.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:12
Therefore, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in Him. Colossians 2:6
Heavenly Father, we pray that you may fill us with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that we may live lives worthy of you, and pleasing you in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing more and more in the knowledge of You.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3
“Walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. Count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus; for God has given us everything we need for living a godly life; knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection, love, and kindness. Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things and continue to grow in them, you will never stumble; they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. John 14:23
Have you stopped to wonder why Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him in John chapter twenty-one? When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.” My brothers and sisters in Christ, Peter affirmed three times that he loved Jesus, and he was advised to feed His lambs and tend His sheep, so too, if we affirm that we love Jesus we must keep His word and look after one another.
The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples. Psalm 33:10
“Lord, do not let evil people have their way. Do not let their evil schemes succeed, or they will become proud. For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence.”
A man’s heart plans his way but God directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
My brothers and sisters in Christ, the plans of the heart belong to man, but the reply of the tongue is from the Lord. We should not make any decision without asking God’s advice. Know that we can make all of our plans, but it is the Lord who determines our steps. This is what the Lord says; “Woe to the rebellious children, declares the Lord, to those who carry out a plan, but not Mine, who form an alliance, but against My will, heaping up sin upon sin.” Many plans are in a man’s heart, but only the purpose of the Lord will prevail.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
My brothers and sisters, God has a plan and a purpose for our lives; we who are called according to that purpose must walk in it! “He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will. In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will; in order that we who were the first to trust in Christ, would bring praise and glory to God.” Amen!
“Teach me Thy way, O Lord, teach me Thy way; Thy gracious aid afford, teach me Thy way; help me to walk aright; more by faith, less by sight; lead me with heavenly light, teach me Thy way.”
Lord, teach me Thy way! “When doubts and fears arise, teach me Thy way; when storms o’erspread the skies; teach me Thy way; shine through the cloud and rain, through sorrow, toil, and pain; make Thou my pathway plain; teach me Thy way. Long as my life shall last, teach me Thy way; where’er my lot be cast, teach me Thy way; until the race is run, until the journey’s done, until the crown is won; teach me Thy way.” Thanks You, Lord!
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10
“I’m pressing on the upward way, new heights I’m gaining every day; still praying as I onward bound, Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. Lord, lift me up, and let me stand, by faith on Canaan’s tableland; a higher plane than I have found, Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. My heart has no desire to stay, where doubts arise and fears dismay; though some may dwell where these abound, my prayer, my aim, is higher ground. I want to live above the world, though Satan’s darts at me are hurled; for faith has caught the joyful sound, the song of saints on higher ground. I want to scale the utmost height, and catch a gleam of glory bright; but still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found, Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Colossians 2:6
“As a prisoner in the Lord, then, I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have received. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. He will sustain you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
