They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the Lord was my support. 2 Samuel 22:19
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
For thou will light my candle, the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. Psalm 18:28
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished. My brothers and sisters in Christ, when we live godly, righteous, and sober lives, God will light up the way before us and allow us to walk safely. Our lives will be brighter than noonday; and the darkness will be like the morning. Trust in the Lord!
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
“For this commandment is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way to life. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart, the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. O send out Thy light and Thy truth, let them lead me; let them bring me unto Thy holy hill, and to Thy tabernacles.”
My Brothers and sisters in Christ, I am here today, not because of anything good that I have done, but because of God’s mercy and grace. How about you?
I have been through fiery trials, I have walked in dark places, I have suffered want and need, I have been down-trodden and distressed, I have been tested and tried, my enemies confront me from every side; but Lord, I am still here. (Excerpt from PFEL)
In return for my love, they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer. Psalm 109:4
Those also who render evil for good, they are my adversaries, because I follow what is good. Psalm 38:20
And who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good? 1 Peter 3
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
My brothers and sisters in Christ, do not act like the hypocrites. Scripture describes them like this. “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra-long tassels. They love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogue. “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces. “Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.”
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9
“If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6;1
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.”
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:44-45
“You must not harbor hatred against your brother in your heart. Directly rebuke your neighbor, so that you will not incur guilt on account of him. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”
