The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel (which means ‘God with us.’)” – Matthew 1:23
“O Come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here, until the Son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel; shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O Wisdom from on high, who ordered all things mightily; to us the path of knowledge show and teach us in its ways to go.” Rejoice!
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6
Then the wayward in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will accept instruction.” Isaiah 29:24
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, He shows sinners the way. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way. Psalm 25
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Psalm 107:2
And a great road will go through that once deserted land. It will be named the Highway of Holiness. Evil-minded people will never travel on it. It will be only for those who walk in God’s ways; fools will never walk there. No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there. Isaiah 35:8-9
“But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. Matthew 7:13
“The people living in darkness have seen a great Light.” Thank you, Lord, for sending us this Light, may all who see this great Light shine for others to see. Amen!
My Advent wreath is positioned in such a way, that I am able to see the candle light glowing from several angles in the house; but what is most astonishing was that when I awoke in the night, and I saw the gentle glow of the light, it was so calming, I said, ‘Thank you, Lord, for this Light in my life, let it burn forever in my heart’. The glowing candle is a reminder, that Jesus is the Light of the world, and that we should follow the Light where it leads. Thank you, Lord, that we are no longer walking in darkness but in your marvelous Light.
This is He who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah, A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’ Matthew 3:3
Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground will become smooth, and the rugged land a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 40:4-5
As we prepare this Advent Season for the birth of Jesus, let us pray for God to illumine our hearts, and be ready to accept Jesus, the Light of the world.
“Come, Thou long expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free; from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in Thee. Israel’s strength and consolation, HOPE of all the earth Thou art; dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart.”
Lead me, O Lord, please lead me and guide me!
“Lead me, guide me, along the way, Lord, if You lead me, I cannot stray, Lord, let me walk each day with Thee, lead me, O Lord, Lead me. I am lost if You take Your hand from me, I am blind without Thy light to see, Lord, just always let me Thy servant be, lead me, O Lord, lead me. I am weak and I need Thy strength and power, to help me over my weakest hour, lead me through the darkness Thy face to see, lead me, O Lord, lead me. Help me tread in the paths of righteousness, be my aid when Satan and sin oppress. I am putting all of my trust in Thee:
“All the way my Savior leads me, what have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His faithful mercies? Who through life has been my guide; Heavenly peace, divinest comfort, e’re by faith in Him to dwell, for I know whate’er fall me, Jesus doeth all things well.” Amen!
Lord, you are doing everything well in my life, and I will not complain, because, “All of the way You lead me, You cheer each winding path I tread, You give me strength for every trial, and You feed me with the living bread; and though my weary steps may falter, and my soul a-thirst may be, gushing from a rock before me, lo, a spring of joy I see.” Thank you, Lord!
