Before the arrival of Jesus, John preached a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. Act 13:24

My brothers and sisters in Christ, who have ears to hear the word of the Lord, let them hear; for there are many like John the Baptist preaching to us from every corner of the earth, repent and be baptized. John said, “I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me will come One more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”
