But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord. David killed Uriah the Hittite and took his wife to be his wife. 2 Samuel 11,12.

“Thus said the Lord God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul, I gave you your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And, if that had been too little, I would have given you more. Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? My brothers and sisters in Christ, let us challenge ourselves this morning, let us ask ourselves these questions – What are we doing that is not pleasing to God? What have we taken that God did not intend for us to have? How have we gone out of our way to do evil in the sight of the Lord? Has the Lord not been overly good towards us? Why are we not satisfied with the gifts we have received? Learn to be content with what you have, for the Lord is the giver of all good things, and if he has already given us so much and we are not serving him faithfully, imagine how much more we could receive, if we are content, if we serve him faithfully, and wait patiently on the Lord.
